EVERYTHING HAS BEEN FIGURED OUT, EXCEPT HOW TO LIVE

Storytelling is a timeless tradition that human beings have used to pass on ancient knowledge and we think it's perfect to point out in this blog, that the kinds of stories and messages that folks have chosen to pass down are stories that invite us to remember we're stronger, smarter and more creative than we believe ourselves to be... we just need to let go of what we think of ourselves to access this potential inside us.

This concept is perfectly illustrated in the storytelling pattern called the Hero's Journey and we love Jason Silva's video about it in the link here.

CREATING SOMETHING FROM NOTHING

Without anything from the past to inform the future, we have two options -

Option 1 we get spooked that there's not enough certainty and failure and it's consequences will predictably cause a lot of pain. 

Option 2 we choose to stand in uncertainty and unfold piece by piece the possibilities implicit in something unconstrained by the past. When you've moved past the pressure of fear, you gain an awareness and listening of what's working and what's not working. Creating from nothing then can can feel more like the joy of discovery vs. the draining experience of grasping at straws.

Here is an early piece of concept art used to inform who we wanted to be. While it's certainly imaginative, it wasn't quite capturing who we are. But we were moving in the right direction and that meant everything in a dark room.
